Where Selank Comes From
Selank, sometimes listed as TP-7, is a synthetic heptapeptide with the sequence Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro. Its first four residues are tuftsin, a naturally occurring tetrapeptide associated with immune function. Russian researchers extended tuftsin with the same Pro-Gly-Pro tail used in Semax, a change intended to make the peptide more stable against enzymes. The result is often described as a sister compound to Semax, though the two have different starting points.
What has been studied
Selank has been investigated mainly in rodent models, with a focus on behavior and neurochemistry. Published questions include its influence on GABAergic signaling, changes in the expression of genes related to neurotransmission, interactions with enkephalin-degrading enzymes, and performance in standard anxiety-related behavioral tests. Because the tuftsin portion has an immune history, a smaller group of papers also examines markers such as cytokine expression.
Choosing Between Vial and Liquid Spray
Refresh Research offers Selank in two forms:
- A sealed vial of freeze-dried powder, available at 5 mg or 10 mg per vial.
- A liquid spray bottle containing 40 mg in 30 mL, which works out to about 1.33 mg per mL.
The vial number is a total amount of dry peptide; the spray number is a total spread across a known volume. When comparing them, it often helps to think in milligrams per milliliter once the vial has been reconstituted by your lab, so both formats are described the same way.
A Note on Names
You may see this compound labeled Selank, TP-7 or Selank TP-7 in different catalogs and papers. They refer to the same heptapeptide, and our product pages use both names so you can match them to the literature.
Lot Verification
Look up your product by name on the COA / Lab Reports page. Each certificate lists a lot number, which should agree with your vial or bottle, along with identity and purity data.
