What is PT-141?

PT-141 is a close relative of Melanotan 2. When researchers studied that earlier melanocortin analog, they found a metabolite with a distinct activity profile, and that molecule became PT-141, later given the name bremelanotide. Structurally it is a seven-residue cyclic peptide: the ring is formed by a lactam bridge between an aspartic acid and a lysine side chain, which makes the molecule considerably more stable than the linear hormone fragments it was modeled on.

PT-141 research

PT-141 acts at melanocortin receptors, with most attention on the MC3 and MC4 subtypes found in the central nervous system. Animal studies have used it to probe how hypothalamic melanocortin signaling influences behavior and autonomic responses. Compared with Melanotan 2, it has been described as having less activity at the MC1 receptor, the subtype tied to pigmentation in skin-cell models, which is one reason the two are often studied side by side.

Because it is cyclic and relatively compact, PT-141 tends to be easier to handle in solution than longer linear peptides. Labs still approach it with the usual care for lyophilized material: cold storage before use, gentle mixing, and clear labeling of every reconstituted aliquot.

Buy PT-141: 10 mg vial

Refresh Research sells PT-141 as a 10 mg lyophilized powder in a sealed glass vial.

  • One vial holds 10 mg of PT-141, enough for pilot work or a standard study run.
  • Ships as a dry powder from the USA. Store unopened vials at −20 °C once received; bacteriostatic water for reconstitution is sold separately.
  • The PT-141 Spray & Vial Kit pairs this vial with the 30 mg spray.

PT-141 FAQ

What is the difference between this vial and PT-141 spray?

The vial holds dry powder that your lab reconstitutes. The spray listing is a ready-made liquid, labeled at 30 mg per 30 mL bottle. Both contain the same compound; the choice is about workflow.

Should I order Melanotan 2 for comparison?

Many melanocortin projects include both. We carry Melanotan 2 (MT-2) as a 10 mg vial, so matching quantities are easy to line up.

How is quality confirmed?

Available COA / Lab Reports describe the samples and lots printed in each document. A supplier report does not verify a different Refresh Research stock lot without a documented match. Compare the compound, format, strength, and lot before relying on a report.

Refresh Research lists PT-141 as a reference compound only. Nothing on this page describes a use in people.
